The reference law for forklifts is Legislative Decree 81/08 Consolidated law on the protection of health and safety in the workplace.

The obligations for correct management of forklift safety according to Legislative Decree 81/08 can be summarized as follows:

1) Forklifts must be subjected to a risk analysis in the environment where they operate.
When choosing the equipment, the employer must take into consideration the specific conditions and characteristics of the work to be performed, the risks present in the workplace, the risks deriving from the use of the equipment itself and those deriving from interference with other equipment already in use;

2) Forklifts and their battery chargers must be equipped with a Certificate of Conformity and a User and Maintenance Manual updated also based on the safety components applied to the Truck itself;

3) The forklifts in addition to the normal maintenance provided by the manufacturer must undergo a quarterly check of the chains and a check of the general conditions at least once a year by qualified personnel in order to ensure their proper functioning;

4) Anyone who uses forklifts must undergo proper training.
